Ebonyi – As part of the ongoing Federal Government’s Better Health for All (BH4A) programme, a Rapid Result Initiative (RRI), the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakalaki has completed 50 free surgeries to indigent patients in Ebonyi State.The Surgeries which were specifically Herniorraphy were performed at the Hospital premises in Abakalaki.The RRI is a free health programme of the President Muhammed Buhari led Administration targeted at providing care to indigent Nigerians.The criteria for eligibility is that the would-be patients must be poor and unable to pay for health care. In the first phase 10,150 surgeries are going on in different parts of the country at the Federal Tertiary Hospitals. In addition to the surgeries indigent patients are also being screened free of charge for Cancer, Diabetes and Hepatitis B.
